AGRA in Burkina Faso
AGRA supports efforts in Burkina Faso to supply farmers with
improved, high-yield varieties of maize, sorghum, and millet (the
country's three main crops), as well as cowpea, rice, and groundnut.
AGRA programs also provide farmers with sustainable, affordable
techniques to improve soil health; bringing investors together to offer
affordable financing for farmers and small-scale agribusinesses; and
promoting the expansion of a private sector seed industry.
In Burkina Faso, AGRA's public- and private sector partners include the government's Institut del'Environnement et de Recherches Agricoles (Institute of the Environment and Agricultural Research), NEPAD, the Millennium Development Account, private seed companies, and the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi- Arid Tropics (ICRISAT)
